Good News Bad News
Driving on a local road something caught my eye on the shoulder. I pulled over and jumped out, it's an old, dirty complete soda keg. Of course I took it home. Free keg! Good news!
It's a pin lock Firestone keg. Bad news. I use ball lock Cornies, and I don't really need any more. I thought of using it as a fermenter, but buying a socket for it, and possibly a conversion kit might render the whole thing more costly than it's worth. I even thought of shipping it to one of you, but shipping may be financially impractical too. Ideas?

Re: Good News Bad News
If you've got quick disconnects, you could just buy pin lock posts.
You could also use it with a picnic tap for things you don't drink as often (although that would still require pin lock posts and occasional swapping of the gas post).

Re: Good News Bad News
Use it to shake up giant cocktails to serve to guests you don't want drinking all your beer?
Re: Good News Bad News
Good eye.. I see stuff all the time too and have turned around and found some cool stuff but most of the time just junk.. I don't know a lot about kegs yet, but think not hard to change from pin locks to ball lock, I know the dimensions are a little different though.John Sand wrote:Driving on a local road something caught my eye on the shoulder.
Edit. I like BD idea sounds like fun to me.....

Yes, I think you can convert pretty easily. But also, aren’t you in Indy? I can swap you some beer next time I’m up!

I meant pin lock connectors, but it might be easier to get ball lock posts. You may also want to get a new lid with a PRV. Otherwise, you have to let pressure out through the gas post (which can be messy if you overfill). There''s a tool for that with pin lock posts, but it's almost as easy just pushing down on the poppet. But it's far easier with a id with a PRV. I've got pin locks, but swapped out my lids.bpgreen wrote:If you've got quick disconnects, you could just buy pin lock posts.

I found a taker through craigslist today. He met me at the door with a couple of homebrews in his hands. I love brewers.
