What did you get?
Unfortunately none of 3 daughters nor my wife have the appreciation for beer and brewing that I do so I don't have high expectations beer and brewing gifts for holidays, birthdays and other gift related events. This year I received a 4 pack of Bell's Backwood Bastard Ale (which is extremely yummy), a stainless steel insulated growler with insulated cups, a Michigan Map Beer Cap holder and a wall mounted beer bottle opener. Nothing too exciting but the insulated growler is pretty cool and I decorated it with various beer/brewery stickers to make it uniquely mine.
Anyway it got me thinking about what beer/brewing related gifts others have received that ended up being an unexpected favorite or proved be a better gift than you thought it would be. So what did you get that you would recommend to other beer loving brewers?

My wife gave me a large gift certificate to my LHBS. It should last me a long time but I have no doubt I'll get it spent.

Re: What did you get?
My daughter and son-in-law got me a couple of bombers from a craft brewery in Brooklyn, owned and operated by the husband of a woman my daughter used to work with. He started out as a home brewer, and opened Strong Rope Brewery a few years ago. Very nice Imperial Stout, I must say! And they also gave me this customized flight set:
And, since I collect bottle openers, I got a whimsical one with a Santa hat painted on the handle.
My son gave me a couple of very nice graduated gallon-sized measuring cups, to replace the milk jugs I had been using to measure my mash water. Much more durable and accurate. And, since I collect bottle openers, I got a whimsical one with a Santa hat painted on the handle.

My oldest daughter is in 4th grade. Her art teacher uses a website to store their art. It keeps the art from past grades also. You can log in and buy various items with her art on them. So my wife got me 4 pint glasses with her artwork from the last two years etched on them. These are now my favorite pint glasses.

I just watched a video on this last week and it looks like a great, simple idea. Please share your thoughts after using it a few times.John Sand wrote:A Tapcooler counter pressure bottle filler.

Chris is the winner. Cute kids trump everything.
I've only tried the Tapacooler filler once, and probably need another part. Perhaps I should start another thread when I've worked out the kinks. For right now I'll give it a thumbs up, though it would be easier to use if you have a collar instead of a tower.

Agreed, Chris' pint glasses are awesome, especially with the drawings on them.John Sand wrote:Chris is the winner. Cute kids trump everything.

I'd be interested in seeing a review of this. Also I see there are several accessories that you can get for like an extension tube or keg connector depending on your needs.
