Proximity Malt

Post by HerbMeowing »

Stumbled upon Proximity malt products while ordering from my goto o-LHBS on Black Friday.
1st I'd heard of this maltster.
Anyone else using it?

"European barley varieties grown in the U.S."
MAGA?
What-ev.

Some on their grain is grown on the Delmarva
East Coast grains FTW?

Ordered #20 ($1.19 / # + shipping = ~1.65 / #)
Will know how it goes come late winter / early spring.

I stumbled upon this malt not long ago while looking for something different but went the Mecca Grade.
They sure have lots of malts to choose from. Prices look pretty good. Look forward to hearing what you think.

Bringing back and old thread but I ordered a few pounds of a few different malts to try before I decide to get a sack. I emailed them and asked a few questions and they got right back to me and seemed like a great bunch of folks. Gonna try their Munich since I use it often in my beers and see if I notice anything. Not too expensive but certainly not cheap. Shipping is always the bugger for me.

Proximity's pale malt had brewhouse efficiency 2-3 points higher than expected.

Haven't bought any since the original purchase b/c longer doing business with the o-LHBS and current supplier doesn't carry it.

I haven't seen it around here, though my LHBS has tiny samples of NY malt.
It's kind of ironic that "Proximity Malt" is expensive due to shipping!

There shipping isn't as bad as some other places.
I read they call themselves Proximity because each of their 3 warehouses is near clusters of breweries. Or so they say.
