This coming up weekend I'm going to brew an amber using 100% Red-X malt. I just need to figure out the hop schedule and actual hops to use based on what I have on hand. Nothing over the top, just a nice, easy drinker.

I apparently did an oops and used my spare 4# of RedX in this instead of my spare 4# of Viking Extra Pale.

So this is now an Orange / Amber colored Lavender Wheat Beer. Or something. I'm going to do half of it with S-05 and the other half with T-58 so it's differentish because why not, it's already now an experiment.

Back when us-05 was still us-56, I accidentally used T-58 instead of US-56. It made for an interesting beer, mostly because it was so different from what I expected. I didn't realize what happened until I got around to the batch I intended for the t58 and it wasn't there.

mashani wrote:Brewed a 1.047ish Wit Bier, but used T-58 as the yeast. Since it will ferment cool it will be more peppery then bubblegum, and I used meridian hops to increase the lemon/citrus vibe, and used a little bit (5oz) of sugar to dry it out a tad.
Bottled this, it looked, smelled and tasted like a wit bier so I'm happy.

Nice. I was able to brew my Amber using Cashmere and Southern Passion. No hop bomb here, hoping for a balanced easy-drinker to let the malt shine, too.

I bottled the T-58 half of my lavender wit bier. Which I though I mistakenly used Red-X in instead of Viking Extra Pale. But apparently I was wrong. I have no idea why the wort looked so dark colored almost amber when it went into the fermenters now. If you saw the picture I posted of the fermenters side by side you can see how dark one of them looks, that's what it looked like coming out of the mash & boil.

But it bottled very pale like an actual wit bier.

The US-05 half looks like it is the same color now in the fermenter. I'll bottle the US-05 half sometime in the next few days.

So, I have no clue what is going on here. But I think I still have Red-X now, since I don't see how that could have possibly faded to pale yellow.

So many places to go...The Bulldog would let you keep your Beer glasses for every Beer you drank on Wednesday I believe. Left with 6 glasses once.
Liquor is considered Essential....So is Brewstock

This was also properly pale when I bottled it. So yeah, why was it reddish amber when it went into my fermenters?

Anyone have a clue how that can possibly happen, with the exception of magic mushrooms, which I swear I was not partaking in?

Well, I took the red-x that I actually did have, mixed it with some 15L and 120L crystal, fuggles and first gold hops, and made 3 gallon batch of ESB.

This one will not turn out pale. I hope LOL.
