Old Borg Collab Recipe
Hello everyone! Been quite a while since i've stopped by the Borg! Still have my shirts that I wear weekly though!
I was looking at some old photos and came across a photo today of a Borg Collab recipe we did back in November 2011ish time frame. My photo appears to be from bottle aging so it was my first pour of the beer! It was a chocolate Oatmeal Stout. I have the basic recipe still saved but I'm missing a part of it regarding the addition of the chocolate powder. Anyone remember doing this recipe and have the notes from it? I'll post it as a response to this thread. I really want to make it again. Its a little bit sized up as back in 2012 I made 3 gallons and my setup now would accommodate for 11

I don't remember if I was part of that (I have made chocolate stout with actual chocolate a bunch of times though).
If I was part of that, I would have suggested anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4 C (1/4 C is not too much) of low fat Dutch processed cocoa in a 3 gallon batch depending on just how chocolate I wanted it. I would likely have also suggested some vanilla, either beans soaked in vodka or some pure vanilla extract added like a "dry hop" as it will kick up the chocolate vibe, especially in a sweeter stout.

Thanks guys! Lots going on since I poked my head in. Have a son who’s almost 2 so brewing took a back seat. Also had a knee surgery in September 2020 due to a torn meniscus. That’s always fun chasing an 18 month old on crutches. But finally back to brewing!

Congrats on the new addition (Sorry, don't recall if I knew that or not).
I've been there with meniscus surgery and I'd consider chasing a young one around simply good therapy!

Good to see you again, Dan.
I had meniscus surgery a year ago, October 2019. I didn't have a toddler to chase around, though.
