Brewed a Munich Helles yesterday, same recipe used last year on one and liked. Kicked a E4 on the beginning of the mash, first time had that happen on mash, have on the boil a few times, no problem after reset. Changed my mash a little on this and mashed in at 138 deg. let it sit on it for about 15 mins and turned up to 148 for the rest of it. Last year was 1.056, this one came in at 1.052-54, closer to what wanted. last time used 34/70, used a big dose of cellar science German lager this time. Have it at 55 degs and working hard. Getting a little sulfur, but not much. I am looking forward to this one.

Kegged the Gerst Amber Ale last night. The sample was nice. It's a mild amber, crushable for the summer for sure. Have to bring the keg of Gerst and my Czech Pils to my nieces graduation party over Memorial Day Weekend.

I bottled the RedX Kohatu SMASH beer. It smelled great. Hydro sample tasted nice. I think it will be a winner. Kohatu seems to be a good stand-alone hop from what I can tell so far.

I brewed a Russian River Blind Pig IPA clone this morning. It's a 5G Extract w/steeping grains recipe from MoreBeer, dry hops & oak chips to be added later. I've never had the original but it sounded good, so I thought I'd try it.

I brewed an ESB like beer to use up various stuff I had here. So it was a mix of Ashburne mild malt, malted oats, English medium crystal, and some brown malt. Mt. Hood for hops. S-04 for yeast.

Just kegged "caribou Slobber" brown ale and Deadringer IPA
Ive made the Caribou slobber every spring/summer for about 7 years EXCEPT for last year. It is one of my daughters favorites.
It will last most of the summer because she is the only one drinking regularly
The deadringer is one of my favorite "cheap" kits when its on sale at Northern Brewer
Right now I have on tap. 2 Saisons, an IPA and Belgian Orange La Petite, which turned out a LOT better than I expected and is almost gone..
Ive made the Caribou slobber every spring/summer for about 7 years EXCEPT for last year. It is one of my daughters favorites.

After finally succumbing to covid after everyone in the house got it over the last 2 years, I was out of the brewing and drinking game for a couple months (was a minor case, but really didn't have the taste or inclination for beer or many other things during or for a while after). So I finally picked up my Bootleg Biology FerMENTORS yeasts (thanks to Mello for hanging onto them for me...) and today is the first brewday in a bit.
On tap: First, coffee. Then, homebrew rye IPL.
Playlist: Sting/Police (I've been mildly obsessed since seeing Sting in concert a week ago. The man is a wizard. 70, and sound like he is 30)
Got Brandon's Yazoo Embrace the Funk yeast and bugs blend, and before covid I had been planning a rauchbier or similar, so I'm doing a cherrywood smoked saison. Improvisation...
Pretty simple recipe...

I brewed an IPL today as well. Using cascade, Lupo Amarillo and Lupo Bru 1 with a touch of Huell Melon (which will likely not be noticed).
Bootleg Biology S. Arlingtonesis was the yeast used.

The FerMENTORs series of yeasts was the April Bootleg Biology release where Jeff released commercial mixed fermentation cultures from four breweries (Yazoo, Black Project, Rare Barrel, and Jester King) paired with a video description of the yeast and a recipe.

Yes! The taproom within walking distance from my house alternates Gerst and Sue on their Nitro tap. I must admit that I get that more often than not when I go there, even with their 36 local taps and two fridges of local cans/bottles to pick from...
Can even get to-go since the law changes due to COVID... Gerst Nitro and roast beef lunch to-go is worth my walk...
