Jim, yeah I think that honey malt did the recipe wrong. I had one of my own AG ones the other night, and I thought it was just too off. I disliked the taste so much that I poured it down the drain! :( Seconding that half baked Chimay recipe!

Sucks you had to dump one. I was there a while back. I took one to my parents house when it was about 2 1/2 weeks in the bottle. I was sipping on it for a while, but my parents did not like it and they dumped it. I was gonna drink it no matter what, though! After that hour long mash and an hour boil I had way to much time invested to see it go down a drain. Luckily I was outside helping my dad on the grill so I didn't witness it!

Ok... So what did you think of it. Or are you gonna have to give it a few more go'z to really give a valid opinion?

Having this with lunch. For $1 a bottle, or I think $3-$4 a 6-pack, it's good and a bottle to save.

Oh, it's good, it will clock your tick or tick your clock. Make it hard to type by the end of the glass. Good hop bitterness with enough malt backbone to back it up.

Don't know I'd call it a triple IPA, but a good IIPA. Stone Enjoy by still beats it.

If someone can't find it and would like to try one, PM me. The store still had 2 1/2 cases. Would not mind sending to people who can't get it. Always my pleasure to help the Borg.

Found some 1776 I bottled on 8 Dec 2011. *Almost* 2 years old. Now I remember why I set it in the very back of the closet. Too darn mallty, still don't favor it. Oh-well, it will get drank, not gonna waste it, but still... bleeech.
Atleast I'm drinking a mediocre brew watching a VERY mediocre team (vikings) doing their usual... loosing. Maybe I'll drink a good IPA during the Colts game this afternoon.

Drank a bunch of Crown Top Pale Ale today. It's from my favorite brewery, Fedora Brauhaus.

Boy, is it a good beer! :fillup

Not here, but I am going to brew it again and tweak it a bit, so I'll post a thread for that when I do it.

And I'm drinking... MOAR of my Pacific Gem Saison. It's like fuggle crack.

Apparently you like English IPAs then. More malty and not as hop forward as an American IPA.

I like them too, but I also like American IPAs.

Have you ever tried Victory Hop Devil? It's a lot more malty then many American IPAs, although it does have the hop forward quality. It's sort of in between the two styles IMHO. You might like it maybe.

Drinking an Ommegang Whitte while cleaning and sanitizing three cases of bottles...

The beer is nice and light and refreshing, a strong contrast to the less than exciting task at hand!
