I'm planning on getting Stone'd tonite!

Post by Beer-lord »

From 7 to 8:30 Greg Koch from Stone will be at our favorite pub. I hope to get a picture with him and get close enough to see just what hop he smells like.
It's a 'school' night so I only plan on having 2 beers or so and only wish it were on another night but heck, you only live once.

Here's what they are supposed to have tonite (if they aren't already gone). I'm definitely going for the Stone Grapefruit Slam Ruination IPA and might have to get Wooty as well.

Stone Double Bastard Ale 2010, 2012
Stone Vertical Epic 2012
Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine 2012
Stone Belgo Anise Imperial Russian Stout 2012
Stone Pale Ale with Ginger
Stone Cali-Belgique IPA
Stone 11.11.11 Vertical Epic
Stone “The Tiger Cub” Saison Aged in White Wine Barrels
Drew Curtis/ Will Wheaton / Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton W00tStout (not ’til Thurs.) – created by actor and uber-geek champion Wil Wheaton, alternative news website Fark.com creator Drew Curtis and Stone CEO/Co-founder Greg Koch!
Stone Grapefruit Slam Ruination IPA (not ’til Wed.)
Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine 2013 (not ’til Wed.)
Stone Espresso Imperial Russian Stout (not ’til Thurs.)
Stone Tiger Paw Saison, aged in Wine Barrels (not ’til Thurs.)
Plus the regular Stone line up: Stone IPA, Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale & Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale

I hope to get a few minutes with the 'beer jesus' himself and ask him 3 questions....what's his favorite hop, his favorite specialty malt and his favorite yeast. I'll come off sounding like a real beer nerd.

I took off Monday and am off 10/7-10/11 and I have a funeral to go to tomorrow so I need to behave. My evil twin is going with me and he has an early flight out tomorrow so there are many reasons I have to behave. Hey, it's only beer!

Good luck on the "two Beers" only. I'm with BlackDuck on this one, call in sick! I had the W00tStout last night and it's very good. I'm a hop head and don't really enjoy stouts but this one was very complex and had lots of different flavors, careful it's 13% and very tasty.

Have a great time Paul. Tell Greg that 3 out of 6 taps at my house are Stone clones and the beer fridge is filled with bombers from the brewery. Thank him for all the help that he and everyone at Stone does for the home brewers.

What a MAGICAL night. I'll let Beerlord post the pics etc but I'll just say that Greg Koch (beer jesus) is one of THE MOST amiable guys on this planet. He was SO very 'normal' and available considering how many people were there and how many wanted some of his time.

The Grapefruit Ruination was pretty good but the Enjoy By was +(#)$(#$)ING fantastic. The draft woot wasn't bad either :jumpy:

Easily the most fun I've had sober and with my clothes on :)

I am in HEAVEN!.
Greg is the nicest person in the world. We asked to take a picture with us and told him we had a friend visiting San Diego (from New Orleans) and he said, "Let's flip him off"!

Then my sister in law was secretly videoing him and he grabbed the camera and took over....I may be a tad bit lit but still holding my own...

Later he went inside and gave a speech.

He is the most personable guy you'd meet.

Totally friendly. He didn't say anything when I said we nicknamed him 'beer jesus'. Asked questions about what we liked and didn't like.
I had their Grapefruit Slam which was a total tropical delight. Then the most dankish Enjoy By (I had a beerection) followed by a free 4 oz sample of 12.12.12 then a Woot. I was Stone'd. I've never felt so much like a groupie since I was in high school.

I hope to get to San Diego next summer and will most definitely visit Stone and 'call upon my friend'.
