I absolutely loved the show. It reminds me of Top Gear, but for beer. Top Beer? They're witty, and very knowledgeable about the subject, and also adventurous. I enjoy the bits in the show where they attempt to convert craft beer virgins. The one older lady that was on the train, her words were something to the effect of "This doesn't taste like what I expect beer to taste like" and I cheered! They're doing God's work :)

Glad this popped up to the top. Totally forgot about this. Set to record tonight. If it hasn't been mentioned before, Esquire is the rebranded G4, so if you had G4, you can likely find Esq in the same channel slot.

I was thinking it would be on the same channel as G4 but on my cable system, it's 2 different channels.
I had previously asked my cable company if they were going to carry Esquire and they said they never heard of it. Even Esquire's website doesn't show Cox handling this in my area. I hope it sticks around long enough for me to see all these shows.
What I was able to see last night was very enjoyable.

I just set this up to record on my DVR. It looks like Esquire is a new network and this is the first season of Brew Dogs so it might be a while before you see it come to NetFlix or other streaming services.

WTF?? I checked on this today to watch it tonight and it didn't record as planned.
It shows it recorded but when I went to play it I got a screen saying "COMPLETE SIGNAL LOSS". I just manually went to that channel and the same thing pops up. Clearly DISH isn't carrying this, but the system thinks the channel is available. Grrrr.

Must. Call. DISH.

I'm kind of irritated.

I don't pay for TV because it's not worth it for the few shows that I would watch. So I do a lot of watching of TV shows on Hulu or the broadcasters website. Apparently NBC Universal doesn't like streaming even when you watch the commercials.

I watched the show - it's available on Comcast OnDemand, and it looks like they keep re-running it on the Esquire channel over and over too. It's not bad, but I just can't stand the two hosts! They should have hired the former BrewingTV crew to do this!
Spoiler Alert
And the gimmicky crap they brewed with kelp, chili peppers and rosemary... It looked downright nasty at their "tasting" event at Stone... Murky flat and totally scary looking... You see people tasting it, and going, "what is that $hit I just put in my mouth?", but of course everyone gave it thumbs-up for the camera!

I agree, it wasn't bad but a lot of it felt staged. I wish they would have spent more time on the "converting beer virgins" part and getting the actual feed back from those people and less time with their "nipple" (not in a good way) fetish!

In talking to Greg Koch about this show he said they basically had it all planned out before they asked him to get involved. I guess he just went with the flow.
It's definitely TV and made for entertainment but I still like the idea that they wanted to make a brew like this. I doubt I'd like it but to build and brew on a train is pretty cool in my book. But I'm just a simple guy I guess.

Yeah... but considering they had to keep the lid on the boil kettle the whole time to just make it boil with their weak induction plates... It would be like drinking bitter hot creamed corn!

I was also surprised they said that they were the first to use kelp in beer, as there's a commercial beer that uses kelp - Kelpie by Williams Brothers Brewing Company, and it's very tasty.

Overall I did enjoy the show, and will probably continue to watch it. The hosts were a bit of an off color bunch. Funny, but not comedic. The one guy was particularly hard to understand with that thick accent. Also, what was with the camera work? Trying to create action with quick cuts and camera movement was quite distracting. I noticed it when they were sitting at the bar tasting the Stone beers with Greg. Instead of just showing the interview they kept cutting to moving camera angles over the bar and through glasses. Very distracting, they were talking about beer at a bar, just film them and the conversation.

Also, what was the point of brewing on a train? Just for funzies?

Finally got to watch this last night and I enjoyed it. Is it the best show ever? No. Is it entertaining and about beer? Yep. I like the fact that the guys aren't too serious, although some of the stuff is clearly staged/over-produced but you have to expect some of that.

It was cool that the Stone brewery got so much airtime. Man, I love that place. All in all....I'm in. It's a nice way to relax and almost feel like you're talking with friends about beer.

I saw it and enjoyed it, though I could have done without the making beer on a train bit. It inspired me to go out and grab a Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter which I enjoyed too!

I thought one of the best parts was when they were sharing beer in the train station and ended up talking with guy who made pruno in prison.

Like others I enjoyed the show and will continue to watch. The whole craft beer virginity angle was pretty cool. Also enjoyed their pairing contest.
