I wanted to make a coffee stout this winter and after taking inventory I have all the necessary ingredients to make the Mr. Beer Sunday Morning Coming Down:
1 Can St. Patrick's Irish Stout HME
1 BrewMax LME Softpack - Smooth
Here is my plan: Brew as normal and thinking about adding .5 to 1 cup of brown sugar with HME and LME.
Here is where I am looking for some feedback. I have been adding steeping grains with my MB recipes to add a little more to the recipes but I am not sure what would work best and how much. So looking for some suggestions.
For the cofffee I am going to cold brew some coffee/espresso in about 12 oz of bottled water for 12 to 24 hours to add to the slimline with priming sugar. How many oz of coffee/espresso should I cold brew with? Preference, coffee or espresso. I plan using a high quality bean.
Thanks in advance.

Perhaps chocolate malt steep?
I just made a brown ale last week and steeped some chocolate malt. It had a pretty good coffee aroma while steeping.

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber

What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

Forget the brown sugar - it won't add much to the brew. You also might want to add a shot or two of Expresso just before bottling.

Well I went ahead and brewed this today steeping 4oz each of chocolate malt, crystal 60l, roasted barley, flaked barley and carapils for 30 mins. Didn't add brown sugar. Going to let this go the 3 weeks and planning for about 2 oz in 2 cups of water for a cold steep to avoid any additional bitterness.

Seems like I read guys were adding an ounce of coffee or espresso to each bottle as they bottled. I've never done this, so take that with a grain of salt. just my 2 cents

I think I will add to the whole batch when I batch prime this way I can adjust just how much coffee I want in there.

I just ordered this recipe. How has it gone so far? I was thinking of adding one of their robust soft packs as well.
