Pilsner IPA recipe thoughts or advice

Post by Manowarfan1 »

Howdy all - trying to get the pipeline filled back up before I start on Collab brew with Phil (gonna be a tasty one) so I have to get some IPA in the mixs for SWMBO. This is a bit of a kitchen sink brew in that I have ingredients that I want to use up so here goes - let me know if you spot any glaring errors or recommendations. I know I have to go 90 minutes onthe boil for using Pilsner malt but other than that, anything else? Also I am not familiar with most of the hops I am using but they have been in the freezer a long time and I want to use them up, they seem to be IPA type hops so here goes:
Pilsner IPA
5 lb Pilsner Malt
.125 lb Biscuit malt
.25 Vienna Malt
.125 Crystal 120L
.10 Aromatic malt
Hops:
Warrior (16.7) - 1 oz at 60 mins
Galena (12.0) 1 oz at 15
Falconers Flight (10.5) 1 oz at 5
Yeast - San Diego Super yeast (WLP 090)

I have other hops (Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade) that I can throw in at flameout or wait to dry hop with. Right now according to Beersmith this is at 69.8 IBU and the color is 7.5 (even tho i do not worry about color but it is within range at least).
Any last minute recommendations? Flameout hops? Wait to dry hop instead? By the time I need to dry hop I will have got another order in of supplies.

Cheers
jeff

I think that you can't go wrong with either of the three you listed for dry-hop options. Any of those will give you a great aroma.

Thank you kind sir, brewed up as I listed above and now have two weeks to decide which to use for dry hopping. Now to whip up a pale ale to add this jalapeno vodka stuff that has been sitting for a couple of weeks to - oops, forgot about that with all the travel. Colorado in two weeks so I want to get some things in the LBKs for when I get back. No sense in having things be empty when they could be productively making me happy in the future :)

Cheers
