Correcto! Ennio Morricone it is. The first composer to use electric guitars in theme music is just one of his firsts. He deserved more than just an honorary Oscar!
He wasn't even nominated for an Oscar in 1968 for the original score of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The winner that year was for the score from Thoroughly Modern Mille. Anyone remember it? Bet you would recognize Morricone's score from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and heard it relatively recently.
