Fedoras are not unconventional hats. They may no longer be at the height of their popularity anymore (more's the pity, IMO), but they were once the standard in men's headwear. They've sorta been supplanted by trilbys and porkpies, which look okay, as long as you know how to wear them, which too many people who try to wear them don't.

Fedoras should be worn the way Humphrey Bogart wore them. Indiana Jones is a close second. Trilbys and porkpies should be worn the way Frank Sinatra wore them. There is no other option, because he was Frank Effin Sinatra.

I can only assume the creator of this poster meant those ridiculous sherpa hats you see kids wearing. Or (God forbid) propeller beanies.
