Re: Guess the song
Ok, since I only knew the punk rock versions of your song lets go for this.
"Now it's 1984,
Knock knock on your front door,
It's the swede denim secret police,
they have come for your uncool niece!"
OR in the case of the Jazz version (yes their is one)
"Now it's 1984,
Are you ready for the 3rd world war?
You will meet the secret police,
they will draft you and jail your niece!"
There are actually other versions of this song, all mentioning various former governors of a certain state.

One, or both?

Re: Guess the song
Both.
California Uber Alles jazzy slowed down version became "We've got a Bigger Problem Now" on a later album. They were no more a fan of the what they considered the far left or right - anyone who they considered a threat to personal freedom and social justice. This song is a perfect example since it morphed from a song about Jerry Brown to Ronald Regan. There were live performances and alternative universe performances (Jello Biafara getting on stage or in the studio with Ministry or Lard or DOA or other bands) where Pete Wilson and Gray Davis also got the treatment.
This is the jazzy (Ronald Regan) version that became "We've got a Bigger Problem Now" in studio:
Your up!

Inside looking out - Grand Funk Railroad
Lets try this:
"Now renegades are the people,
with their own philosophies,
They change the course of history every day,
people like you and me.
We're the renegades, we're the people,
with our own philosophies,
We change the course of history every day,
people like you and me."

Renegades of Funk - Rage Against the Machine!
"Well, I don't think I can handle this
A cloudy day in Metropolis
I think I'll talk to my analyst
I got it so bad for this little journalist
It drives me up the wall and through the roof
Lois and Clark in a telephone booth
I think I'm going out of my brain
I got it so bad for little Miss Lois Lane"

Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James And The Shondells
I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role

Re: Guess the song
Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne
Try this one:
"You get a shiver in the dark
It's a raining in the park but meantime
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie - double four time
You feel alright when you hear the music ring"

I think it's called "Dead Skunks" or "Dead Skunk" or something along those lines... but I have no clue who sang it.

Close on the name, but not there.mashani wrote:I think it's called "Dead Skunks" or "Dead Skunk" or something along those lines... but I have no clue who sang it.
This was the only chart record for ___________. The song led to a stint as the guitar-playing Captain Spaulding on the M.A.S.H. TV series.
