I Have Hops!
Homegrown Cascades. First year plants developed slowly after a cold spring. Pinching off the tops caused side arms to sprout, producing burrs. Heavy rain Friday yielded cones today! Not ready to pick yet, but there will be fresh hops this year.

Re: I Have Hops!
Congrats! You will surely have too much, I could help with disposal.
Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

Congrats John! Nothing like fresh hops! I'll be planting Cascades in the spring.

Re: I Have Hops!
We have a large garden (25 x 45), but I haven't looked into hops. For a few ounces here and there I can't imagine I'd plant the ones that I'd need. I do enjoy fresh egglplant, corn, peppers, green beans, peas, tomatoes, squash, ... This year the strawberries didn't make it, but they are usually good too.
Enjoy your hops!

Re: I Have Hops!
I have grown tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, in some very small and partially shaded spots. But nightshade (eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes) aggravate my arthritis. So I gave up vegetables in favor of beer. Had to be done.

Congrats on the hops!
Re: I Have Hops!
I looked into growing hops too. But then I read that dogs will die if they consume hops. So I'll stick with some veggies.
