Most of the Abita beers I have tried have been pretty good.
Probably bought turbo dog more than others
But I will not use any more Abita bottles for my home brew
I've broken the top off while capping 3 bottles
All 3 were Abita bottles

Yea, I've had a few Abita bottles that didn't seem to cap too well, so I stopped using them as well.

I do have a pretty good Abita Amber extract recipe if anyone is interested.

Brewbirds wrote:Has anybody who buys mixer sixers ever had a beer from Red Hook? I've seen an IPA in the store but don't know what else they make.

I need to replace some bottles I lost when a bottle bomb took a biunch out.
I like the red hook ipa pretty good.
And like re-using the bottles

Not unpleasant or cloying, but I prefer something a little more dry in the finish than this. Good flavor, though. Still not sure what rye malt brings to the party, even though I use it in two of my house recipes.
Rye brings a spiciness to the finish, from my experience. Sometimes it's subtle, though.
I haven't had a He'Brew RIPA in a while, so I can't remember the details, but I recall that I enjoyed it. And that it packed a punch.

I had the Shiner Oktoberfest and the cream ale last night. The Shiner was very good, the cream ale only so-so. I'm probably just not much of a fan of the style, so don't think I'm snagging on the brewery. I could tell it was well-made; it just didn't light my fire.

Worst thing, though, both bottles were twist-offs, so I had to put them in the other recycling.
