Hop Sack/DME Question

Yes BrewDemon and Mr. Beer kits are pretty darn easy but sometime you need a little help from the Borg to get you on the right track. Post your questions here!

Thanks for the laugh this morning. Though I'm not sure of this "obsession" you speak of. But if you would like some fridge magnets, shoot me a PM.

A dedicated beer fridge is not a must, but I kinda see you heading that way. :clink:

Let's just say my birthday present last August was $100 toward a beer fridge, that I keep adding to.. So yea. I'm leaning. No wait... I've fallen over.

Thing is, I've looked at a lot of different ones (taking my time so I get it right) and the one that always catches my eye is the upright freezer.

No crisper drawer hump. Just all shelves baby. Conical shelves.

...and more importantly, space to grow.

When looking for an upright freezer make sure the cooling coils don't run through the shelves. You can't change the lay out if you decide to go to bigger fermenters later.

I took two 5 gallon pails and 2 LBKs into Sears for a hands on check. Pulled out shelf's and crispers to try different lay outs. The sales people were kinda intrigued when I told them what I was going to use it for. I ended up getting a used upright fridge for 250$

You may get a good deal if you check local appliance stores for scratch and dent specials. We got a great deal on a commercial sized upright freezer that had a long scratch on the side that you can't even see since it is tucked up against the wall.

Good deal Brewbirds. I saw this at Lowe's that looked great but it was $400. I wish someone would scratch that one! ;)

You will have to shop around and also want to look for adjustable shelving as a key feature. Mine is for food not beer stuff :o and the shelves aren't brewer friendly but that doesn't mean a good find isn't out there.

Wishing you best of luck on the hunt.
