It's amazing how this shutdown has hit so far down the pole. But, I believe it will be over next week one way or another.
It's always the little guy that gets hurt in these games they politicians play.

Yeah but since the little guy is disenfranchised and nobody cares about them it probably won't be over in a week.

These idiots are so broken they'll fall off a cliff to prove a point.

Edit: Oh and they want smaller government but micro brewers have to get their LABELS approved by the Feds.

Interesting...and I thought the licenses, applications and fees were controlled by the state. I'm almost positive they are in Ohio, maybe it's different in Wisconsin. But I may be all wet behind the ears too!

And maybe the Feds only get involved if you plan on selling across state line.

Do.

Not.

Vote.

For.

The.

Incumbent!

Do not send a single one of those sorry f!@#s back to Washington next election. I don't care what their party affiliation is. If they're an Incumbent I am not going to vote for them. Let's get a new batch of politicians in there with no ties to anyone or anything and get this country moving again.

Nope the feds are involved all the way through. Once they got their grubby little hands in the business they refused to take them out. The brewer may only actually interact with the state liquor commission but they have to interact with the feds.

I share your frustration. But voting out the incumbent will just get you some-one beholden to the other party. And while there are many who should go, sometimes the challenger would be a disaster.
PS: only 17% of the government is actually "shut down". And many in DC are trying to make that as dramatic and painful as possible, so they can go on blowing an extra trillion every year.

Honestly it has to go deeper then just NOT voting for the incumbents! We need to stop voting for just Democrats and Republicans! We the people need to get back to the republic that our forefathers intended this nation to be and shake things up! I tend to be on the conservative side of politics but this crap going on now is just stupidity and a strong message needs to be sent to these clowns in Washington that this is not acceptable!

The president ultimately is responsible for what stays open and what shuts down. I have not heard of anybody on welfare or food stamps complaining about not getting their freebies. The president should send a budget to the congress, but he never has. Not one in the entire time he has been in office. I am behind the house on this one. I don't care about funding Obamacare or not (except we collectively are going to s**t a brick with holes when we realize what this is going to cost each of us personally), but when you already owe 16,700 billion dollars, you have to start cutting back on something, and instead of closing the world war 2 monument, I think the president ought to ask the welfare recipients to take a furlough for a few weeks.

If the average american family spent money like the fed, they'd take home about $52,000 a year, spend about $64,000, increasing their debt by $12,000 a year, all while carrying about $312,000 of credit card debt. I can see why some people may not think this is a good idea.

I'm a card carrying Libertarian, always have been, always will be, The Dems and the Repubs are both them same, and unless we think out of the box a little (FairTax) , we are doomed. Me, I'm going back down to the basement for another HomeBrew, this is too intense.

As far as term limits...They're already in place. All candidates are limited to as little as one term. The actual terminology for this is "election". At the end of each of the politician's current term we, the voters, have the ability to limit the number of terms by voting him or her out of office. I actually am insulted by the fact that the Government took it upon itself to limit the number of terms that a person can hold the Presidency. If We, The People want him or her for more than two terms then we should be able to have him or her for more than two terms.

As far as not voting for the Incumbent...Yeah. All we'll end up with is the flip-side of the coin. The first time or two. And I'm not saying this should - or would have to - go on for election after election. But I would like to think that eventually the "professional politician" is going to realize that there is no longer any money in the profession of politics and go on to other work. Leaving the job of running this country up to those who want to do it for the good of the country instead of for lining their pockets.

But I know...It's a knee-jerk reaction to what's currently happening to our country. I'm just tired of all the games and this is the only idea - as fantastical as it seems - I can think of to stop them as fast as we can.

Except that "we the people" are sheep. Most don't vote. And President gets elected by electoral college, not we the people.
