Well, that's why I marked my carboys -- so people can tell from photos how many gallons they hold!

Actually, looking more closely at the photos, I can see by the tempstrip that it's a smaller vessel.

Funny how we all have our favorites ... in equipment, method, beer .... The first time I tried an ale pail my wife got me, I was hooked. So easy to clean, etc. Yet the folks who use carboys for primary or secondary love them. It's all good.

I'm sorry I'm off topic, here ... don't mean to shanghai the thread ... but when you mentioned ale pail, I figured I'd say how much I love them.
I drill 1/2" hole about an inch up from bottom, and use brass fittings ... no siphon ... put hose and drain right to the corny or use bottle wand for bottles.
I can't be bothered siphoning anything. Not sayin' it's the best way for everyone.

Only thing I ever siphon is one-step through the hose to sanitize it.

Whatever works for ya, Tom. That's the great thing about homebrewing; as long as you're making good beer that makes you happy, it's all good! :fedora:

I just like my small things to look bigger than they are....but I digress

There's a good trub layer already, nice and creamy looking and the blowoff definitely had some krausen blow through over night. Yeah, I forgot to switch to water so I could harvest the yeast but I'm not sweating it. US-05 is cheap and I actually don't use it often so I'm going to RDWHAHB later.
