I brewed a new extract/steeping grains batch this morning. I call it LoHud Pale Ale. Went quickly and went pretty well. But I was surprised when I took a gravity reading. QBrew says it ought to come in at around 1.062. Mine came in at 1.074, and my ABV on the finished product is calculated to be 7.3%. I'm very surprised, and I didn't intend to make a beer this potent, but there you are. I even had to top it off with 2 or 3 quarts to get it to 2.5 gallons.
But I'm looking forward to this one. I think it'll be a nice pale ale, and should pair well with a number of different food choices.
A little surprised

I think the default value is 75% efficiency w/ Qbrew... You may have to re-set that to 85%!

I figured the calculation for extract would be a little more precise than it is for AG, although I have to say most of my AG recipes have come in almost to the last decimal with QBrew. That threw me, also. I'm used to QBrew saying something like 1.058 for an AG, and taking my reading and coming in at 1.058 exactly, and putting it to bed.
Also, I'd be more concerned if QBrew told me 1.062 and I came in at 1.044 or something really low. For some reason, stronger beer than anticipated doesn't bother me as much as weaker beer than anticipated.
