Who actually owns your favorite beer?


Hmm... Let's see... Which big conglomerate owns Yazoo? Blackstone? Jackalope? Oh... None of 'em? Cool...

My first reaction to this article was 'duh... who doesn't know that?' But then I realize that though I know this (and many on this board do as well), I'm always surprised when people don't know Blue Moon and Shock Top are owned by BMC, let alone Leine or Goose. So that knowledge obviously isn't as widespread as I think it is...

My second reaction is... They still make Zima?

A couple of years ago LOML and I went to Chippewa Falls and toured the Lienies brewery. The tour guide stood there and right to my face said they were no longer owned by Miller. I just shook my head.

I was aware of maybe 30% of the ownerships on that list. The rest are news to me.

Thanks for the article, Swen. I linked to it in my Facebook with the exhortation to support your local craft brewer - or at least any true craft brewer ('cause if I could get my hands on some Yazoo, I certainly would).
