Well, I do have some craft brew stouts at home but my Black IPA is semi-close and my Big Honkin Stout has one week left in the fermenter. I'll hug the fermenter and wish it Happy Stout Day.

Does your stout not know what flavor it is? Vanilla or chocolate. Me thinks it should go visit a stoutologist!
Seriously, that sounds awesome!

Plenty of beer on hand here but unfortunately no stouts. I'll just have to celebrate with something else all while wishing I had a stout.

Have you tried my End of the World Milk Stout yet? That has been in the bottle about a year now it ought to be aged to perfection.

Edit: it was bottled on Jan 6 of this year.

I should have stayed in bed.

I'm still looking for a milk stout around here I can try. If I find one and like it I will join in the celebration next year

Until then, I bid you all :night:

Ron, have you tried Left-Handed Milk Stout? I rather like it. More so than pretty much all other stouts I've had, including some I've made myself.

Left handed Milk Stout is what I was fashioning my End of the World Milk Stout after. I got the flavor really close but couldn't get that silky mouthfeel Left Hand pulls off.

No, I haven't. I checked and they don't distribute in California. I hear that's the one to try, though.

Roger - do they bottle with nitrogen? Or just an 'overall' feel that you haven't nailed?

I don't think they bottle with nitrogen. I don't know if it is possible. But the bottled beer has the same silky mouthfeel as the stuff on tap with nitrogen. I don't know how they do that.

They do have a nitro bottle of Left Hand Milk Stout http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/418/100590, it's a bit creamier than the regular bottle. But I agree, Left Hand Milk Stout is primo stuff.
