Gonna have me some celeberatory home brew tonight
I had a great Dr appointment this morning. He said I am weeks ahead of schedule on my recovery. He gave me permission to resume lifting weights to a limited degree. Upper body work only, no bending past 90 degrees at the hip or operative knee, no crossing legs, and watch my body positioning when loading the bar. He said I can drive when I can lift myself up on a stair with my operative leg. That way I know I have the strength to step on the brake. Right now I know that my reaction time going from gas to brake would be hindered as my leg feels "heavy".
Today I walked a mile without using my cane. Then I played around in my gym for a bit. I could not believe how heavy my empty bar was.

Thankyou Paul. I am taking up leg extensions and leg curls. I just used 10lbs and did 30 reps. I figure this will rehabilitate my leg faster than doing them free hand sitting on the edge of my bed like I have been. Also I am climbing my stairs one leg at a time several times a day. I still need to use my cane for that but I think it is more for balance than it is to help my leg lift me.Beer-lord wrote:Way to go Roger! Keep up the good work. Excellent, Roger! No doubt this ahead-of-schedule recovery is due to your maintaining your fitness all these years. Does this mean you'll be brewing soon?
