First bottle of the second lbc split of my chimay patersbier. This is the one that fermented really slow, where the other one fermented really fast, even thought I spit a the same wort and same starter across them. This one has a noticeable mineral character to it. I'm wondering if I didn't get all the one-step out of that keg and that's why it took off slow. it's the only thing I can think of that would have caused that and left me with this flavor. It tastes like I used burton water salts in it. I don't hate this, but it's not at all like I intended, it tastes like I made samual smiths nut brown with chimay yeast. I guess that's good LOL?

Tried a bunch of things tonight:
Deschutes Black butte porter
black butte porter.jpg
black butte porter.jpg (120.18 KiB) Viewed 706 times
Not enough of anything, very middle ground, the flavors were all subdued except and almost tealike flavor that I do not like (samuel smith's stout had this as well as another porter that I had that I can't remember the name of)

New Belgium Trippel
Forgot a pic, not very good personally not a fan of the style too much I think, had an odd almost overripe fruit taste that made it almost musty and off tasting

Ommegang Three Philosophers Quadrupel

Much better than the trippel, sweet fruit flavors (cherries and plums mostly) decent mouthfeel and hid the 9.7% very well

Gray's Oatmeal Stout

Favorite so far tonight, fantastic example of an oatmeal stout, medium to heavy body, sticky mouthfeel, smelled like oats and coffee tasted like oats, chocolate and coffee, (i am guessing chocolate malt, roasted barley, and flaked oats) very easy to drink just all around good

Coffee, thats all it tasted like until I dropped the glass, coffee, sweet, sticky, and coffee.

Overall the Gray's was my favorite, fantastic local example of an oatmeal stout one of my favorite beers so far

Abita Pecan Harvest , not bad but not favorite. Cool thing is on the packages it gives a discription/breakdown of the ingredients. The grains, hops, and malts, cool if you like it you can try to mimic it.

The last of my Stone beers, Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale. Absolutely loved all the Stone beers from that variety pack but this one might just be my favorite of the 4.
