Palisade hops

I received 2 oz of Palisades from Yakima Valley last week.

I've never used this hop before and was wondering what to expect.
They are 5.6 AA. I've got a 2.5 gal AG batch I'm planning for this weekend and I was wondering if I should use them by themselves or mix them with another hop. I still have a couple of ounces of Amarillo and a couple of ounce of Citra.

Any thoughts?

I did an Anniversary IPA from Austin Homebrew not too long ago that had Palasades in the boil and in the dry hop. Sadly, when I opened the pack to dry hop they went all over the place and I couldn't use them but I did have enough in the boil as a late addition to taste the difference and I liked it.
What is it you are brewing? If you are using both Palasades and Citra or Amarillo, I'd suggest the Citra or Amarillo for the dry hop and the Palasades for the late addition hop.

I was looking at maybe trying to do a SMaSH with just the Palisades.
Maybe an APA.
I'm going to have to add a 1/2 oz of Dingemans Chocolate to get the color right though! :razz:
I'm really concerned that the Palisade won't be heavy enough to give me alot of flavor with only 2 ounces,
and if either the Amarillo or Citra would compliment it!
Also, I was considering using the Palisade as a late addition only, 20 minutes on, no bittering or first wort hopping if I did and APA.

Yes, Citra and or Amarillo would be fine...

Connected hops play nice as compliments / substitutes.

Might need a small bittering charge of something (good time to use up some scraps from your inventory for that!)

I have been having good luck with a modest bittering charge at 30-45...

Then Hop-Bursting at 20, 15, 10, 5 and 1: (small amount at 20, larger at 15, larger still at 10 etc..)

Then a pretty large charge at flameout and I have been leaving that in as a hop stand (sometimes with the rest of the boil hops if I need more IBU's...) for about 30 minutes... During the 30 minutes, I just stir to whirlpool and let it sit so it starts to slowly cool... Then begin the real chillin' at 30 minutes...

I'm heading out the LHBS right now but when I get back I'll post the Palisade Blonde we did. It was quite good (note the past tense).

Sorry I haven't done it yet. Got home way later than planned. Also wanted to ask which recipe category it belonged in. I need my brother to help me as I've only post one so far. He is still resolving PC problems at the moment. Will put it in Advanced recipes ASAP :cheers:

This is what I've settled on for these hops.

Was gonna do a BIAB and 2.5 gallons but decided to lower the ABV a bit and use the mash tun.
