Ok, so most pumps do not come with a switch in the brewing world and no one wants to go cutting the cords to their brand new pumps. I put together this little control box panel for our pilot system pump and wanted to share how I did it, the steps and costs involved. I hope it is helpful to anyone looking to do something similar.
Parts List
2 Gang Electrical Box - $9.47
2 Gang Toggle Receptacle Panel - $6.31
GFCI Receptacle - $11.99
Standard Light Switch - $1.50
Power Cord - I had a 15' Cord
Total - $29.27
Here is a shot of all the parts, minus the power cord.
Stripped the power cord receptacle end down to the wires and you have a Green, White & Black wire.
Using the below diagram, I wired the GFCI receptacle and the light switch. So now, the power is feeding into the GFCI receptacle and controlled by the switch instead of having to always plug & unplug your pump from the wall.
Now, button the receptacle and the switch into the 2 gang box.
Finally, line the panel cover plate up, screw it in and you are good to go to mount your new pump switch panel and start pumping.
