I am a little stumped?
Why on the brewdemon site is a recipe costing more than a single can?
Single can $9
no-rinse $0.75
Recipe $22
This includes two cans, 1 no rinse
9+9+0.75=$18.75 (site prices)
A recipe costs $22
I looked over for quite a while and I am truly stumped.
Unless I am missing something, that is just weird.
Most companies (for any thing out there) take off a few % if buying an upgrade or package deal.
They have it the opposite and are charging $22, when you can buy the three items separate for less?
And no, I have not been drinking when I looked at it
Please tell me I am missing something

You are correct. The observant win.
On the Mr. Beer site you can also buy the components cheaper than the whole.

Do the single cans of extract from BD come with yeast?

Re: I am a little stumped?
I posed your question to Sam at BrewDemon and this was his reply:
Nope…this is correct. The short story is, it has to do with our wholesale pricing.
So, if you don't mind working a little harder, I would suggest buying them individually (you will save more).

Yes, they do. All of their cans of HME have yeast under the lid already.Bluejaye wrote:Do the single cans of extract from BD come with yeast?

Re: I am a little stumped?
Ahh, thx Louie.
It actually makes perfect sense now.
Buying separate may actually be easier anyway.
Other than noobs, the no-rinse could possibly not be needed.
I just had to ask someone, because it just wasnt making sense at the time and I thought maybe
something was just flying over my head and I had no clue.

Re: I am a little stumped?
I was actually a little leary of ordering brewdemon because the prices confused me.
It makes sense now, so I will have to order something from them once my supplies go down.

Re: I am a little stumped?
What it shows is that they aren't pricing from a Marketing perspective, they're pricing from a Merchant's perspective. Clearly assembling the kit yourself should not save you money.
Many new entrepreneurs fall into this trap - they price to get margin not to maximize profit dollars. You can often make more money by selling more units for less dollars.

Re: I am a little stumped?
Many places do that since they know the mentality is that the more you buy, the cheaper things should be. I pointed that out to SWMBO at Kroger the other day when getting cheese. She grabbed a big block and I showed her the smaller ones are actually cheaper, plus you get the bonus of not having to get locked in to one flavor. Counter intuitive, but due to warehouse club conditioning it works quite well and Ive seen it done at many other places. Works for me as ordeirng ala carte avoids buying the stuffs I have sitting on my shelf, and in most cases for me it would be silly to purchase hops.

Re: I am a little stumped?
But if they are basing it off wholesale pricing, that to me implies it comes packaged ready to go for them, vs. they have to pick the components, hence it should be cheaper for them and cheaper to sell as it's pre-assembled.
I'd argue their price points don't make much sense either...

Re: I am a little stumped?
The short story is…we had to raise the price of our refills (for wholesale purposes), but we left the individual ingredient prices alone. I did this for our early customer base, so they didn't have to feel the pinch.RickBeer wrote:But if they are basing it off wholesale pricing, that to me implies it comes packaged ready to go for them, vs. they have to pick the components, hence it should be cheaper for them and cheaper to sell as it's pre-assembled.

So, I would take advantage of this loophole before we start selling these items wholesale.

Alot of us found the same scenario at MB a few years ago. The package deal is good for somebody just starting out, you get everything you need to make a batch of beer. Once you start building up you own inventory of supplies, you might save a few $ on buying individual components.BrewDemon wrote:
