Craft Brew Alliance Summer Pack

Post by Kealia »

Yeah, I know...Summer?? I just saw this on the shelf at Nob Hill and almost picked it up. I just have so much at home already that I couldn't pull the trigger on it.

It's 3 each of:
Widmer Citra Blonde
Widmer Alchemy
Kona Waialua Wheat
Red Hook Wit

I've had the first three and really liked them but didn't know Red Hook even brewed a Wit. According to their site they add ginger to theirs which sounds really good. Anybody actually tired the Red Hook Wit?

Damn, I want to try the Red Hook Wit real bad. Widmer's Alchemy is damn good, and Citra Blonde sounds like a great beer. I've only had Kona's Fire Rock pale ale and that was good, but really malty for a pale ale, but it's hard to go wrong with a wheat so I'd try it.

The Waialua Wheat is yummy. Think wheat beer with passion fruit- not from hops but from actual passion fruit.
The Citra Blonde is what turned me on to Citra.
I had Alchemy on tap and LOVED it. I bought a sixer a while ago and it was OK. I think I need to stop buying beer from Safeway, I just don't think it's being handled well.

Since I'm not really enjoying the Sam Adams Winter Pack much, I may go back tomorrow and get this. But....it's also a summer pack so the beer has been sitting for a number of months....

Ask for a discount, especially if the pack has a "sell by" date.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.

I found myself back in the grocery store today and went and looked to see if this was still there....it was. I looked at the date and it was packaged on 3/14/13. I found the store manager and asked him what type of deal he would cut me and to my surprise he refused.

He actually said that he wouldn't sell beer that old because beer doesn't age well. GOOD FOR HIM!

I didn't come home with beer, but I did gain some respect for this store manager.
