every rye extract I can find is a blend and not just plain rye. don't they make just rye extract? if not why? I know you can mash rye (I think they suggest using rice hulls too) but I just find it odd that they don't sell it already made for you.

I would do a partial mash with rye and 2-row. You know what I say, "If you can steep you can PM" If you are doing a 2 - 3 gallon size batch, a hard shell beverage cooler works well.

Rye extracts are a relatively new thing. And no you won't find any pure rye extracts. If you just want to add rye without whatever extract it comes in do as bob said and either steep or partial mash.
