It's HOW cold???!

Post by jpsherman »

Had to run out and pick up some spring water at the store so I can make a BD brew. It is currently -15F, with a windchill around -40F. Suprisingly the blazer started up on the first try, although it wasn't happy about it.
Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

We hit -17F early this morning, and now it's a balmy -14F... Gotta go blow the drifts off the driveway in a bit. I used to walk 2 miles to school uphill both ways in this kind of weather...

Even down south we'll hit the upper teens tonite. I just read that the average temperature in the US is 12.2 F this morning. And I also read where some scientist said this is more proof of global warming. Huh?

I feel you Russki, where I live in NW IN we are under a state of emergency, all the roads are shut down and they are supposedly ticketing anyone found on the road unless you are Police/ Fire or medical personel. I am enjoying my 3 day weekend and hope to go back to work tomorrow. My drift is almost 5 ft when I open the garage door to start the cars other parts are bare cement.

SE Michigan is currently 7, feels like -26. Tonight it is supposed to be -14 with a wind chill of -43, and tomorrow we may hit 0 with a wind chill of -24, which would again cancel school (-20 temp or wind chill cancels school). Mid 30s by weekend, next week 40 on Tuesday.

We are expecting -5 w/wind chill in the - twenties. The horses and beefer are not going to be happy. Frosty Ice Mustaches and bucket beards, if I can keep them thawed long enough to get a drink. Maybe a homebrew additive is in order.

Crazy weather...-8 thurs night, 1 ft snow friday and -2, Yesterday hit 50 and poured rain all night, 1.5in. Now no snow, mud up to the hubs and back to the cold tonight. Frozen mud ruts are the worst. I admire you northern midwest folks. Just like a deer you hunker down and ride it out.

Ok, who wants a visitor for the remainder of winter? I like cold, but FUK, this is ridiculous!! This morning we were at -32 at the house, with a wind chill of -61. We are currently at a balmy -21F (-29C) with a warm wind chill of -41F. Y'all still want to complain with your warm temps? LOL. Schools here have even been closed down, most businesses have closed, it's bad when that happens in Norf Dakoota!!

I just put 3 more bales of straw in the hen house, another heat lamp, the water was froze solid (heated containers yet...). Even the rooster, whom this has never bothered, wanted to sit in my lap. Like they think that is warm... wow.

I see a bad side to this artic blast, yea, even worse. This one is going to hit our pockets. Think about the southern boys that raise our fruit/veggies. This is going to put a killer on the crops. You know what that means.... they will put a killer price on what it left. Can't blame them, but hell, it's high enough at the grocery stores the way it is. Be prepared to take it big time in the shorts! Bad enough I just did an LP fill (used for house heat), the price was up .75 cents per gallon. That hurt the ol brewing budget big time.

Merry Christmas y'all! Happy... awe eff it... bah humbug, it's cold!

I would say "that's why we live in Florida" but it was close to 20 degrees when I got up this morning. I know it's not subzero, but for Florida, that's pretty cold actually. I had my fair share of time in the cold climates living in Canada & Alaska when I was younger and still playing hockey. You can keep it. Stay warm.

It's 1F here right now, windchill is like -20. Supposed to go down to -15 or less with -40 windchills or something stupid like that.

Dogs don't even like it outside, they run out, do their thing, and run back in real fast.

The local ski places are all closed which is unusual. I think they are afraid if a lift breaks down people will lose body parts.

It was 30 this morning when I got in the car which is damn cold for California and we haven't had rain since I don't know when. That's a BAD thing, our water supplies are at a minimum right now.
