First of Many Beers to Competition Today
Well, sent off three bottles of our Devil's Tail Amber Ale to the Big Bend Brew Off in Tallahassee this morning. First of many competitions we will be entering beers in this year. Entry deadline is 1/10/2014 so hoping the mail gets it there by the deadline. I think it will as it's only 2.5 hours from here but you never know.
BJCP Style 10B is what we are entered in.
Next up is the Northern Mississippi Mash-Out in St. Paul, MN and those bottles are going out tomorrow

Good Luck at the competition.
I've got two boxed and ready to ship when the deep freeze is over. Don't want to send beersicles.

Thanks everyone.
Always humbling, exciting and a little nerve racking sending out the first beers each year. Don't know why, this brew has done well and medaled in past events. Still, there is always some feelings in the back of your mind. Always interested to read the judging sheets. Cool to see how two different people relate and taste your beer and seeing their notes.

Best of luck, Eddie! Don't worry about medaling. If you do, it's bonus!

Good luck! I have received some good feedback from competitions, leading to improving my brews. Even on the rare occasions when I disagreed with the judges, their feedback got me to think about whether my beer had flaws, and led to improvements.

Good Luck!

I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

That's what the competitions are meant to do in my opinion, is just make you a better brewer and produce better beer. A lot of times we as brewers may not see/taste it, it takes an impartial person to see/taste it before we figure it out. It's all in the name of better beer.Foothiller wrote:Good luck! I hope more brewers of the will take the plunge and send their beers off to some competitions in 2014. It is fun and you never know, you could be making better beer than you realize as well.
