I know recipes are all over but I've never seen the term, 'bacon extract'' before. You can view the recipe on the website.
Actually, I'm not even interested in it but if someone ever tries it, I'd love to hear about it. I do love bacon and beer but not everything goes together so well.

But bacon is much more readily available. And you won't have guys in rubber dingies trying to board your SUV to hang protest banners on it as you pull out of the grocery store with you slab of bacon.Bluejaye wrote:I saw this today, as well. To me it is about as interesting as whale beer...
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Re: Bacon Beer
I'm not a huge "BACON!" guy, I like bacon but the recent bacon with everything craze is kind of overkill for me (I think its a hipster thing that just caught on).
That being said, I have had the Wildfire Wheat with Bacon at bootlegger's brewery and when I was in Pittsburgh last september i had a Berliner Weisse style beer with bacon flavors in it. Not a huge fan a Bootlegger's to begin with but the bacon wheat was solid and quite drinkable.
The Berliner Weisse style beer with bacon was pretty damn amazing and had I not had other things to do that day I would have sat there and drank it all day!
Thing is with both of those beers the bacon was very subtle. A background character. I think you get into nasty tasting territory when you try to bring the bacon forward and have it as a prominent/featured flavor.

Re: Bacon Beer
Extract would be the way to go IMHO. Bacon contains fat which will turn a beer rancid.
Extract wouldn't have any of that potential.
