Gymrat's Bourbon Porter

Post by Beer-lord »

First, my sincerest apologies to Roger. When he had sent me some beers a while back, I put the BP in my small, dorm fridge and it got pushed behind some bombers. I just found it today and immediately drank it!!!!!
I had a craving for a stout or porter today and was going to grab my stout when I found this and am I glad I did.
After I opened it, I didn't hear much of a hiss and was concerned it wasn't carbed enough (though I like my stouts lightly carbed) but it was perfect (in my excitement, I poured to fast and it gave me too much head). I didn't get much of an aroma and was expecting a slight bourbon aroma. I did get a small amount of caramel aroma though.

The flavor was outstanding! The bourbon was just the right amount to enjoy but not too much to take away from the porter. It was very balanced and the bourbon flavor added some warmth but not the same way as an alcohol warmth.
As usual, I left some warm up a bit and the bourbon was a bit more up front.
This was a great beer and would be the perfect after dinner or desert beer. Roger, thanks for sharing this although it took me so long to find it and review it. You should enter this into a competition!

Thankyou for the nice review. I am really pleased with that beer. It has been really popular with my friends. Have you tried the Milk Stout yet?

Yes I did and I thought I had reviewed that one too but can't find it. But ALL the beers you sent me were way above average.
