BrewDemon Conical Fermentor
I was just at the BrewDemon site. I've always liked their conical fermenter but found the price hard to justify. I have also moved up to larger batches. But I was thinking that it would be great if they could make a larger version of their fermenter. I've looked at some smaller stainless or plastic conicals and found their prices to be well into the ridiculous range.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

i too wish they had a larger version. i still brew small batches but i got 4 lbks now. hard to justify buying another small fermenter.

I agree. I have two LBKs, and an unsold Mr. Beer kit so I could have three. Until I ruin them, I'm buying nothing.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

Re: BrewDemon Conical Fermentor
I hear ya guys - I only brought 4 or 5 of my LBK's out east to SWMBO house, but she had a couple already that I had sent her - I have one 5 gallon Ale Pale kit from a Midwest Supplies special. I have a cajun cooker propane burner but have never used it, cannot imagine using it in this heat although stovetop is not much better. These conicals look interesting especially if they get the trub and yeast dump. I plan to keep making smaller LBK sized batches to keep variety in the pipeline but once I get to being able to keg I want to make more 5 gallon batches once I hit upon recipes that I know I like.
Anyone know what the story is with brew demon? I saw somewhere that they were basically the old MrB recipes or refills? Did some old MrB guys start up something after the takeover? Oh - it is awesome to have smilies available, yes I am a MrB Forum vet .
Thanks Louie for setting this up.
Cheers

If you go to main part of this site I had written several article about BrewDemon that should answer your questions in depth.
The Short version is YES! Sam who started BrewDemon used to be with Mr. Beer, picked up the old Mr Beer extracts and rebranded them.

Re: BrewDemon Conical Fermentor
I saw this BD Conical mod in another thread here. The bottom of the BD Conical has a flat spot just big enough to drill a hole and put a spigot in the bottom. I got the largest one I could find. So what I do is ferment for about 4 or 5 days, then drain the trub out through the bottom. It's like doing a first fermentation then racking for the second second fermentation. Only you never expose the fermenting brew to air/bacteria. I did have to replace the legs that came with it with longer dowel rods to get enough height. I've tried it once and it worked like a charm.

Nice job! That looks pretty good, but that trub comes out easily with the bigger spigot and hose.
