What numbers have you entered when setting up your equipment profile into the loss to trub in the kettle and the loss in the fermenter to trub categories .
If I brew a LBK size batch ( I try to brew 2.5 gallons in the LBK ) I have been estimating the amount left behind in the LBK to be .20 of a gallon or less depending on how much trub I'm willing to bottle.
The amount left behind in the kettle varies by brew. I'm thinking .20 is good number for that value also.
I know I need to measure but I'm curious what others have used when brewing for a 2.5 ( lbk ) and a 5 gallon brew.

Re: Beer Smith Loss Numbers
I don't remember exactly what I did for my equipment profile, and BS is installed on my computer at home, but I think I use 2.11 (8L) gal bottling volume, 2.25 gal (8.5 qts) as the batch size, so my loss to trub etc is .13 gal. So if you're doing 2.5, and the same bottling volume, the loss would be .25+.13=.38 gal

Are you leaving good wort and beer behind or is that liquid really loaded with trub?

Re: Beer Smith Loss Numbers
Mostly trub. But I am only filling the LBK to 8.5 qt, I think you said you're doing 2.5 gallons or 10 qt, so your bottling volume would be higher than mine, right? And sometimes I don't get that last liter bottle filled all the way.

For 6 gallons going into the fementer. I am leaving a gallon of wort & trub in the BK. I have Beersmith set so my final yield is 648 oz (5 gal 8oz) beer into the keg or 54 bottles
