Embrace the Funk!

As many of you know, I am a Yazoo evangelist, and have become acquaintances with some of the Yazoo folks. Also, many of you know that I'm a fan of the funk. So, with those interests in mind, I've been happy to follow the progress of the Embrace the Funk series of wild beers at Yazoo. Last year, Yazoo released 30+ wild beers in the taproom, and also at festivals and tastings, including a couple Funk Fests at the brewery, at SAVOR, and at wild events related to the GABF. This year they have purchased a small bottling line in order to be able to bottle some of these great beers. The first beer is bottled, a Flanders aged for a year in Merlot barrels, and I'll be attending the release party/lottery on Sunday. 150 people will be winning lottery ticket holders to have the right to buy 4 bottles. Should be fun. These events in the past at Yazoo have been wonderful beer tasting events, with people bringing great bottles of all different styles to share.

But... this is the advanced brewing thread. So why am I posting here? I wanted to point out that Yazoo's wild ale brewer, who can be found at the popular wild ale site Embrace the Funk, was/is a homebrewer who really got interested in wild/funky beers. He's living the homebrewer dream of being able to brew on a bigger scale at Yazoo now. Rebel has released three of his wild ales for home brewing (ahh... finally the reason it's in this thread...), and they are available here. A brett pale, a blackberry (or whatever fruit you want) lambic, and a dark Belgian Specialty Ale. I plan to try a few of these now that I'm getting into this type of brewing...

Nice! Count me jealous! I'm a huge fan of sours as well - keep us posted! Good luck with the lottery.

I've got 10 gallons of Flanders Red sitting in my basement - one batch is 14 months old, the other is very young at 2 months (repitched on the original cake)...

I like Brett C. I would probably like the C+C Brett Factory Kit very much.

The question is how much more Brett C I really want to unleash into my home environment. I've basically brewed the C+C Brett Factory Kit (except with a Belgian yeast in the mix too) by accident a few times over the last few summers LOL.
