I brewed a batch of FedoraDave's American Ale today. My signature house brew, if you will, since it carries my name. It's really a fairly straightforward blonde ale brewed with Simcoe hops. A good, tasty, session beer.
I've always used WLP001, California Ale Yeast with this recipe, and I've taken to washing it, because I use it in a couple of other recipes as well.
I pitched the yeast at around 2:30 or so this afternoon. It's already bubbling a little, only eight hours in. And this was a yeast starter from a fourth generation harvesting!
This is great stuff!

"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
