Conditioning time

Post by BeerRust »

I bottled my cider last night. For those that have brewed a cider...how long to you condition for? I did bottle conditioned with coopers carb drops.

Really depends on the recipe.

I have made a few ciders and one took over 1 year before it was what I would call ready, others took 3 months in bottle.

I like my cider still so no carb, not sure on what that will add to the time

I do mine just like beer, 3 weeks in the fermenter, and 4 weeks c+c then taste. I have the first batch I ever made and it has so much 'mulling spices' that it still isn't drinkable. It may never be, but I pull out a bottle every couple of months or so and try it. I probably should just toss it, but who knows maybe after a year (or two) it will be the most awesome cider ever. Hey, I can dream. :)

IF ya add'd lactose, 3 months drinkable, if not, 6 months to a year. It will be carbed in 2 weeks though. IMHE (experience)

I've got a gallon jug in the garage that I forgot all about. I moved to the glass jug to secondary about a year ago. I didn't like it when I tried it in July. I hope that it improves with time.

I used Lactose, sample was sweeter than anticipated. I am hoping the carbonation will dry it out a little. I'll check one in about a month.
