Damn you.....AGAIN! What's with you Georgia guys? Must you be two steps ahead of us N'Awlin's boys?
Nope, I'm a slow reader so it took me a week to spell Spiegelau, another week to pronounce it and a third week to sell enough homebrew to buy 4.
But, at least I have a PAB's glass.

Funny you mentioned that. I had this exact thought in mind. Just hope my jig will hold this glass. It's not really made for odd shaped glasses. Guess I'll know in a few weeks.

As you are going to find out. These glasses are very thin. You will not expect how thin, but they do work great with IPAs.

Wait.. What? Your JIG?

Do I take this to mean you can do custom laser etching on glassware?

I have a laser engraver but what I can do on glasses is a bit limited because of the cylindrical attachment I have. Some glasses don't fit well so they don't engrave correctly.
I really use the machine for lasering on wood, acrylic, metal and glass awards and don't really do glassware but it's something I've been thinking about starting to do.

I, too, have a couple of these glasses (but we here in Noo Yawk are usually in the vanguard, sommes-nous pas?)

As Jeff has mentioned, the glass seems very thin; alarmingly so, I might add. But they do enhance the aroma in a highly hopped beer, IMO. The term "olfactory cannon" is an apt description.

My usual go-to glass is the Sam Adams Perfect Pint, but for more aggressively bitter beers, I will probably opt for this one. It makes a difference, although try telling that to SWMBO.*

Dave, I think if we described more of our brewing needs this way, we could have a lot more stuff. :laugh

I don't know.

I mean, I don't doubt that the glasses enhance the flavors and aromas of the IPAs. The effect of flavors and aromas from the shape of the glass ware has been long ago proven by wine drinkers.

But I can remember how the whole beer world (especially us home brewers and craft beer drinkers) laughed at Miller Brewing when they came out with their "Turbo Bottle". It looks to me like maybe they were on to something. They were just on the wrong end of the pour.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

I have improved my glass collection. In my commercial beer days, I was very happy with an assortment of standard pint glasses from different bars or craft brews. Now I have a couple each of Stella chalices and the recent Heineken laser etched, some others too. They are beautiful glasses, and fun to drink from.

Never mind, there it is.
