I remember a few months ago while happen my friend (I only have 1 friend) get his house fixed up, we took a break, walked a few blocks to a local hangout and had 2 Dead Guys each. On my first sip I said something about how much I enjoyed a beer without being slapped in the mouth with hops. Now I love hoppy beers but it's beers like Ron's that makes me want to brew 'regular' beers so that I can see what the hops might be hiding.
This one's got a gorgeous color, pours a nice head that stays and clings to the glass like horny teenagers hang on to each other (I'm trying to write like Ron's romance beer books).
There's not much of an aroma but I do smell the malts but can't say what stands out. The carb is perfect and the taste is clean but it's gives you a mouthful of chewiness. It's not a heavy beer but also not a light one. This is another beer that's hard to believe it's a homebrew. It's full of quality from front to back.

Glad you enjoyed it Paul. I think I really like the Simcoe late addition, but I agree with you that it's a good beer after drinking a lot of IPAs. This is malt-aggressive IMO and I think it's the Carastan that really stands out. Mind you, that's my speculation.

I have a lot of reading to do, a lot of pics to sort through and now I need to go hit the gym after 2 1/2 days of beer tasting/touring/drinking. A write up will follow in the appropriate place, but again I'm glad you enjoyed this one. This, and Levitation and really the only things I brew 5G of instead of 2 1/2G. I like this one a lot and was glad to share with you.

I would have reviewed this earlier, but Paul was using the glass.

This poured a nice amber orange with a nice head. But unlike Paul's, mine clung like Jim and the twins to my shorts on a hot humid Georgia summer day, but in a good way.
Just a slight citrus aroma on the nose with a sweetness. Taste is a nice malty sweetness in the mouth with hops riding shotgun just muttering "pine, pine, pine". Both work off each other very well. Great mouth feel and body on this one. I could see having 5 gallons of this and Brewbirds Joes Beer on tap, but not for very long. Very nice tweaking of a recipe, Well brewed sir.

Glad this one turned out well. Clearly I need to do a first pour pic myself and use my Stone glass...
I'm glad I made this one as a fiver. I had a friend come over last night that loved it, so there will plenty on hand for a while.
