Hawkeye wanted beer in his Wheaties
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

I too work the midnight shift. At least 2 weeks out of the month anyways. I have no problem with going home and having a few beers before I lay down. It helps me sleep a bit longer and with the Olympics on the past 2 weeks its a no brainer.

I think it's OK, my wife thinks otherwise, but she thinks a pork chop for breakfast is wrong too...

I used to walk into the convenience store down the street from work and they would ask if it was

So, everyone's fine with the beer, but you object to the hummus and rice??? Cool!
But sadly, as years advance (not yet entitled to a senior discount) many things agitate my digestion. Like hot coffee, most cheeses, milk, bacon, butter, orange juice and so on. As if that weren't enough, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant and spinach hurt my arthritis. And starch in the morning isn't real good either. So every day I eat eggs or eggs. Anything to make them different. I know, I know, how could a guy who looks as young, fit, and handsome as I suffer all these problems? I ask my self the same. But I'm still here, I have my hair and not too much of a gut.

In Minnesota if you get caught playing golf before ten AM we sentence you to a three to five year stretch in Canada. We use to sentence them to six months in North Dakota but...Come on! How cruel can you get?

I work 3rd shift and I used to go out all the time with coworkers to a restaurant/bar that served at 0730. Some of the looks we got from people while we were sitting at the bar drinking, while they are coming in for OJ and toast. Anyway, no, drinking with breakfast is not abnormal.

I too work third. I always thought it would be fun to go to the restaurant and be drinking a beer at 7:30AM and then in a loud, seemingly intoxicated manner announce to the waitress that it's time for me to head out to go do my State Job. Say something like, "Well. Ya know those roads ain't gonna plow themselves." And then stagger out of the restaurant.
