Happy Carnival/Fat Tuesday!

Post by philm00x »

My wife made paczkis for Mardi Gras. For those of you not in the know, they are Polish donuts filled with fruit or cream (or anything else your heart desires!). We decided to have cream custard ones and Nutella ones, and they are deeeeeelicious!

Why, Phil? Everything you post on here or on Facebook is about food. And not just any food, but really delicious looking food. When I am hungry, and don't have anything near that delicious at home.

Seriously, those things look damn good. And nutella filled? You gotta be kidding me? Soo Good!

I'll trade you some kingcake for paczkis.

I was downtown today at the pub and it was packed! Everyone was already dressed for Mardi Gras. And the ladies were looking very paczkis-ish if you know what I mean <wink-wink>

@Jim... I'm a fatty, so I love food and beer :D

@Paul... Sweet and filled with cream? :lol: I've actually never had king cake before, so I might be coerced to trade!

Yeah, my mom used to always make lasagna and St Joseph's Day pastry for Carnival. Unfortunately, Mom is in the hospital after knee replacement. Jane is working late tomorrow, or maybe I'd make lasagna. The good news is that it is brewer's meeting night.
Instead of giving up doughnuts or chocolate or (NOOOO!) beer for Lent, I'm giving up Sunday mornings and going back to church. There may be lightning.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.

Jim, you have it 1/2 right. Everything Phil posts, talks about, dreams about, etc. is about food. He must have a fast metabolism, otherwise he'd be one of those "needs a crane to remove from house" guys.

We're changing his name from Phil to Food.

Hah... definitely not a fast metabolism. I am trying to exercise more in order to keep me from becoming one of those "needs a crane..." guys. 5'9" & 230 isn't fit, but I'm a fan of food, lol.

Must be the beard. You didn't look 230 in those pics you posted a while back, maybe it was a funhouse lense that slims you...

The only good thing about today is that I'm not working. It's 36 and raining here and the chill factor is in the mid 20's so I'm not sure how many people will be out watching parades. But, they don't cancel Mardi Gras unless there's hurricane winds so only the foolish and crazy will be out today. While I'm foolish and crazy, even I'm staying put.

That was Sunday and yesterday. Today is eat all you can before Lent!

The parades ended much earlier than usual. We almost broke a record for the lowest high temperature on Mardi Gras day.....38. I think we tied it. Everyone got wet and went home.
