Time for a new keg, too

Have a question on how to keg your beer or just want some tips on bottling! Don't stick a cork in it until you ask the Borg!

Time for a new keg, too

Post by Kealia »

Aside from looking into a new 5G fermenter I'm going to pick up a new keg, too.

The two small kegs I have right now (2.5G and a rare 2G) are the style of the Italian kegs where they don't have the rubber around the top = can't stack them. I find myself needing to move my second small keg into my kegerator with my 5G and the 2.5 that is already in there but there's no way for me to stack them currently.

So...sometime this week I will be going to MoreBeer and picking up one of these shiny new toys:

$109 brand new.
I'll be using two liquid out QDs to jump the beer from the current keg to the new one then trying to figure out what to do with the 2G keg.....I'd offer it up for sale here but I would think the shipping would be prohibitive.

Looks like you're taking care of yourself... Great stuff. I'd love to buy more kegs, but in reality, I'm the only beer drinker in house, wife has one every blue moon, and I have 3 5ers... When you're done with purchases, post some pics of the digs...

You can never have too many kegs. Keep them all fill them all. Call your friends or just set-up on the street.

LOL, my problem is that I have fewer taps than I have kegs.

That sure is a problem....I suggest you look into taking care of that also. I mean, your already buying more kegs, why not more refrigerators and more taps????

I really can't understand the constant need for things to put beer into - show some control and just draw the line. I know I did. I had 16 1 liter PET bottles. Then I added 32 1/2 liter PET bottles, because I was never going to bottle with glass. Then I got enough glass bottles, and cleaned them, to do a few cases. Then a few more. I finally stopped when I had 10 cases of glass, which I would never fill. I now have 10.8 cases full, with another 5 gallons ready to bottle end of week and a 5 gallon recipe's ingredients already bought. So, 15 cases of bottles. But I'm stopping there. And I have restraint, which you should exhibit.

I have 7-5 gallon corny kegs plus 1-2.5 gallon keg (never use that anymore) and a 3 tap kegerator which is usually full all the time. I'm actually thinking of doing a few 2.5 gallon batches and put them into bottles before I forget how much fun that was. :)

Yeah, I'm clearly not the guy with the worst problem on here (whew).

Came across this while thinking about adding a 3rd tap to the tower:

Looks like a quick and easy extension.....hmm.......3 taps.........

Kealia, I think you can buy the same keg from Rebel Brewer for $99. Plus, you get an additional $5 off using coupon code "5off4Lent" (thru Saturday).
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Thanks packerduf. Once I factor in shipping, it's pretty much a wash though. I can swing by MoreBeer on my way home and have it in my hands immediately, too.

But I measured my kegerator last night and stacking these won't work. Together, they are too tall.....but I still may pull the trigger just to 'upgrade' my 2G keg to 2.5G.

I've been a good boy lately so I decided to treat myself and pull the trigger.

Only thing better than a shiny new keg is a shiny new keg with beer in it, I'm sure it won't be long!

That sure is good looking... I'm sure it will look new for a long time too. Not like the years of abuse the cornies I have... wish there was a way to clean those up...
