Winter Is Officially Over

Post by Chuck N »

I have a house fly on my computer screen.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Everytime this winter, when temps hit 40*, I see one, and the next day, when it drops to teens again, I see it belly up by the window...

We bought an electric swatter last year, not as fun as a quick swat, but fun in a different way... That is my extent of hunting, flying insects...

War story coming at you....
While Going through the Minute Man training... I transferred from the Air Force to the Army.... so I needed A*R*M*Y Training.... in the WW2 Barracks we stayed in, they had the big open bay style Latrine. In Missouri, Flies can get bothersome. Well, the saying was, we didn't need TP 'cause the Flies would do that part of the job for you.
I found some rubber bands. I linked some together and began to target the flies. got pretty good at it. The all time ONE HIT WONDER was 5 flies with one shot.
So, there's your goal.
One shot with a rubber band, match or beat 5 confirmed kills.

We have flies here, but not that many. I doubt the wife would be too keen on me building an outhouse to break the record... :jumpy:
