Surprised but Happy!
A week ago I sent a six pack of my Brown Porter (Two Brother's Brown) to my brother who helped me brew it while he was on leave. He drank them and really liked them, but saved one of the bottles without telling me. Today he took the last bottle to Beach Brewing Company in Virginia Beach since it is close to his base. He contacted them earlier in the week and asked if he could bring one of the brown porters for them to try and to give me feedback/criticisms. Well I got a call from the head brewer today and got to talk to him about the beer for a bit as he and the other brewer there were tasting it. He asked me about the recipe, the process I did, and other things brewing related. The head brewer said he really liked the mouth feel of it and the slight roastiness, and the assistant brewer said she was a big fan of it as well! Surprisingly they didn't have any recommendations for improvement on this beer, they said I hit the nail on the head with the recipe. I am really happy to hear this because I know I like my beer, and my dad likes my beer, but it was good to hear that people with more expertise on beer like it too. He also said that if I want more feedback on other beers, then I can send them to my brother and they will be happy to do it again, heck it is free beer Anyways this was just a good thing to hear because I haven't heard an experts opinion of my beer before

Re: Surprised but Happy!
Congratulations! It's always exciting and pleasant to have other people critique your beer in a positive way, especially if they are crafters of beer themselves.
I would encourage you to enter a competition or two. The feedback you get is extremely valuable, and who knows? you might win a prize.

Thanks! You just gave me a "why didnt I ever think of THAT" moment. I frequently sit down with brewers and talk craft, but it never dawned on me to bring one for them to try.

Nothing like getting feedback from professionals, let alone 2 THUMBS UP from one!

Congrats!
I actually just drank the bottle you sent me last night. If you read my posts/exchanges with Beer-lord and some of the other guys you know that roasted/toasted flavors are my Kryptonite but this wasn't overwhelming at all.
While it had more roastiness than I prefer and it wouldn't be something I would drink mutiples of (for that reason alone), it was very clearly a well-brewed beer.
It's easy to tell, even with beers that don't hit my "sweet spot", when a beer is brewed well and clearly this was. Take their opinion for more than my own!
