World of a Beer

Post by Beer-lord »

I'm hearing rumors that WoB is building near my home and will be open the end of this year.
Anyone have one in their hood and have an opinion on it? I'm guessing it's a franchise but anything that brings good beer in is a positive.

Yup. I have a couple near me in Orlando. They are a chain but pretty good. Usually have a good selection on tap and bottled. Definitely has a better selection than a "standard" bar would have. Not as intimate as s smaller, more specialized craft beer parlour would be, but good in a pinch.

Yeah, we have one here in Pensacola. The local brewers club meets there pretty much exclusively since it has opened. Pretty cool place but they do not serve food there. You can order food for delivery (at least at ours) so that's not bad. Like Ibasterd said, it's more of a chain deal but does have a much, much better selection than a regular bar/restaurant type place. Our has a lot of bottle beers from all over the world. Though it seems they tend to go with main stream breweries more often than not rather than a lot of craft or smaller breweries from what I have seen.

Ours doesn't serve food of any type, not even munchies. You can order food in from other restaurants. I've never gone, it's mostly a student hangout, located in downtown Ann Arbor.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

The "afterparty" for the Coconut Cup competition in Miami this weekend is at WoB. Never been to either location in Orlando (like Ibasterd mentioned) but I hear it's got a heck of a brew menu.

Sounds a little like Growler & Gill; a craft beer tavern.

A G&G opened up near me a year or so ago, and I went there once. It seemed a little pretentious to me (or at least the clientele did). But they did have a good selection of various craft beers on tap, and also on the shelves for purchase. Wouldn't be my first choice, though.
