MrB is getting desperate, and its starting to creep me out

Post by jpsherman »

I keep getting emails asking for feedback, but this one is over-the-top weird.

Here is the ole cut and paste:
No Man Is An Island - Tell us what we can do to improve the quality of your brew-ventures!!
Brewmaster Jim,

It’s just me, the illustrious and ever-charming Mrs.Beer, at your service. Just checking in on you, darling, as I know you ordered from my hubby a few weeks ago. I wanted to be the first to make sure everything is hunky dory in your home brewery.

I myself am partly enamored with homebrewing because the opportunities for growth and education are positively limitless. I’m so proud of my husband for making a kit that opens up this layered, intricate hobby to new brewers in such a simplistic way. But eventually, we all wonder what lies out beyond that horizon. It’s human nature.

And guess what? There’s a whole world of new discoveries. The world is not flat, my friend, and neither are your options. The lovely customer service team at the home offices of Mr.Beer are there, patiently waiting to guide you through your creative process so that you come out the other side with a masterpiece of your own making.

Or with anything else you might need for that matter.

With that in mind, let’s just review the many avenues you have available to you for support with your Mr.Beer home brewery:

Email us! Customerservice@mrbeer.com or for brewing related questions, brewmaster@mrbeer.com
Call us! 800-852-4263
Facebook us! Facebook.com/mrbeer
Tweet us! Twitter.com/mrbeer
Come mingle with other brewers in our community forums! Community.mrbeer.com
Lone wolf? Watch How-To's on Youtube! Youtube.com/mrbeer
Not sure what exactly you need? Explore your options! Mrbeer.com/help
Literary type? Read our book! Brewing with Mr.Beer [pdf]

As always, happy brewing, brew-venturer!

Cheers~

Mrs. Beer
That is the definition of trying too hard! Mrs Beer?
Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

– Edgar Allan Poe

Desperate and creepy, yes.

But if I were to receive an email like that, I'd respond honestly and tell them straight up how they messed up their formerly informative social forum and turned it into a restrictive, under-the-thumb dictatorship that suppressed open discussion and discouraged the dissemination of information. As a result, they drove away many experienced members who were willing to coach new brewers and help them continue this hobby.

There's probably more, but I'll leave it at that.

Hmmm, I havent ordered in awhile and havent gotten anything lately. I wonder if they skip those who WILL give their opinion? I have many times. It was either "you really screwed up handling this Coopers thing by not merging the product lines to offer larger kits and variety" and "not listening to the forum users when it was screwed up was unexcusable. We understand people make mistakes but not fixing things like PMing and such makes it unusable."

As for censoring, I do not really see it. Yes, BrewDemon is off limits but no other competitors are. The only other real thing I have seen them censor was when "we" were trying to get all the users to dump their site and come over here, and for that I really cant blame them.

But I digress, that was a pretty desperate email, resorting to a MRS who is acting like she would cheat on MR in a heartbeat. Im surprised they didnt send a picture too.

Ah Marketing. wait. what? who's selling what? I think the last thing I got from MB was the "new" test market beers after the sell. I thought it to be on the "thin" side, and decided to stick with what I was doing... mostly DME & Hops with flavor grains....wow, that was a while back...

I met Mrs. Beer for drinks after I got my e-mail. She looked pretty hot in the red and white suit. However, she wanted to do some ‘group’ things with me and the elves so I slipped out the back door.

The real funny thing was that she was drinking a Coors Light.

They lost me with the new ingredients then they really screwed up the forum so there was nothing left. Here's a picture of Mrs Beer. You can't afford her.

I agree with BB. It does seem fake, I would have forwarded it back to them saying it seems like a phishing scam and there's no way they are stupid enough to send that out as a serious e-mail. (But maybe they are) I was fortunate enough to not get that e-mail, I'd be creeped out too. I wonder if they sent the same thing to female customers.
