Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
This has been kegged and put back in the spare fridge to both carb and lager. I decided to not keg-hop it yet, thinking that I should see how it turned out before I do that. You know, give me a baseline.
Plus, I ended up with enough left over to bottle a few......
As a side note, I just realized that I have very few bottles left except for my swing tops and bombers. Guess where my kolsch is going to end up?

LOL, I have plenty of beer but it's all kegged. And somewhere along the way I started giving away bottles to friends, etc. and not asking for them back because I thought I had plenty. It's all good - I haven't used the swing tops in a while now and I do like them. I'll just need to remember to use at few normal bottles that can travel and not have to be returned.
Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
These have been in the bottle/keg a little over two weeks now so I think I need to throw one in the fridge to see how it is. I have 2G of this kegged and I want to dry hop if with some Nelson Sauvin and something else (need to see what I have on hand) but I need to see how this beer turned out in general since it was a test batch.
I have no room in the kegerator until my Anchor Clone kicks, though. I'll be damned if it isn't turning out to be one of those kegs that never dies.

Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
Anchor keg finally kicked last night <nods head in honor of the fallen brother> so this keg got moved to the kegerator. It's been on gas for two weeks already in the spare fridge with the spare tank so it's ready to drink as soon as I pul la pint.
I'm really hoping that the aroma has made it through the lagering.

Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
Fingers crossed. My Faux IPL is on the tarmac awaiting takeoff too. I'm having some trouble kicking kegs with all the beer I'm getting in. Problems, problems.
Let me know what you think.
I didn't go back over this thread but did you finally name it?

Yep, it's the Lager Miser that arrived in your package today.
Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
What, you don't like the other label? Jerk.
I really like how those two came out in terms of their 'shine'. I've been using labels from Beerlabelman for a few years now but I did get a free sample of these because they are waterproof and the higher gloss to them makes them really pop IMO.
I doubt I'll spend the money on them since I keg more than bottle now, and I don't plan on putting them in any ice chests - but they are fun to play with.
Lager that bad boy until I tell you to drink it.

Re: IPL: To-Be-Named_Later
I poured the first pint last night to see how this is coming along - and I won't lie, I like it
It has about the same color as the IPA recipe it was based on and had a great pure white head.
The aroma is a bit faint, but I thought that might happen so I'm going to pull another one tonight (to be sure) and then likely keg hop it for the aroma punch that I'm looking for out of this.
The beer is light and clean up front, due to the pilsner malt and then ends with a nice burst of hop flavor and minor bitterness.
I was a bit worried that it would be overly bitter because of the lack of malt backbone but I'm pretty pleased with this first taste. It was a little low on carb so I need to adjust my regulator. I think it's a bit too high on the pressure, causing too much to come out of suspension in the glass so I'll back it down just a bit and see what happens.
What is great is that it's nice and light but still fulfills that 'need for hops' that pops up sometimes. Definitely sessionable.
So far, so good and I expect that the next pint (or the one after) will be pretty clear.
Amigos - I'm going to say to chill for a week and then drink it.

I agree Paul, the lack of black is disturbing , but it still looks like a great beer. Mine is chilling as I type this, soon to be enjoyed.

My plan all along was to keg hop this one so today I dropped in .30oz Nelson Sauvin + .30oz Citra.
The combination in the bowl was incredible and I think these are going to be a nice addition. Sorry that the bottles didn't get this treatment, but what can you do, right?
