OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Okay, you may know my darling daughter is getting married Labor Day weekend, 2015. They have their venue, and they're very excited making preparations and everything.
So today, it occurred to me that there will be many beer aficionados in attendance, and they should make sure they have some good quality beer for the reception.
I messaged the girl on Facebook just now, and she told me that the venue is handling the catering for cost reasons, and they have a contract with Budweiser.
So I told her that was too bad, but then it occurred to me that, since AB-InBev has become the Jabba The Hutt of the beer world, and has acquired bunches of breweries, including some of the larger craft breweries, maybe they could ask about it and get some decent beer in there. Her fiance did ask about Stella, which would be fine, but she didn't have any hard answers.
So.
I turn to the amazing members of the Borg, who have never yet let me down.
Can someone link a list of the breweries owned by AB-IB so I can forward it to them? And then they can take it from there. The final decision is out of everyone's hands but the venue's, of course, but it doesn't hurt to go in there with some ammo and see if something can be arranged.
Thanks in advance, because I know I'll get a bunch of answers (and some humorous comments) before the sun sets.

That's what ice chests in the trunk of your car is for.
I went to a strict Baptist wedding years back and as soon as the service was over, we high tailed to the parking lot to grab a few cold one's and they weren't Bud.
Wikipedia has the list of all the Bud brands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anheuser-Busch_brands.
And In Bev info can be found here: http://www.ab-inbev.com/go/brands/brand ... brands.cfm

Re: OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Hey Dave you may need her or someone to check with "the venue" also as she said it was for cost reasons; this "venue" may only do the cheap ones and not the "high end " stuff that InBev offers for the same cost reasons.
That would be when BeerLords ice chest in the trunk saves the day for her VIP guests. I'm thinking "Oh local home brew clubs - HELP my daughter is getting married and they are going to serve BMC" you should get several brewerheroes to respond as they've seen it before and can't wait to come to the rescue (though they might crash the parking lot of the reception ).

I know they just bought Blue Point. It's not Sierra Nevada, but it's way better than Bud.

Shame on you Beer-Lord...I went to a good Mormon wedding a couple of months ago and turned them all into Catholics (I'm not of the religious ilk myself but I can sure drink like a Catholic)Beer-lord wrote:That's what ice chests in the trunk of your car is for.

Re: OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Beer-lord's comment about a "strict Baptist wedding" reminded me of a true story.
I grew up in a Conservative Baptist church. Two of their requirements for membership were no smoking and no drinking.
Then one of the deacons pointed out that, if abstention from alcohol was a requirement for membership, then Jesus Christ couldn't be a member of the church.
They changed it to a "recommendation" shortly after that.

I'm a Catholic as is a great majority of our area and if you don't have beer at a parish function, no one shows up!
I have family that are Baptists and they drink so there are some groups that allow it.
But, back in Jesus' day, water went bad fast so wine was the drink for most of the day. But, they didn't drive cars back then.

Re: OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
My Mom's family were all Catholic. My brother and sister's and I were raised Lutheran. My uncles on my Mom's side had a saying:
"If you have a group of four Lutherans standing together you're bound to find a fifth."
Most of you younger "kids" may not get that one.

Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

lol
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Religion has nothing to do with this issue. It's all about the beer. Insist on the Blue Point Beers or you could always go with Goose Island. When my girls get married I will definitely have my 2.5 gallon corny keg with me at all times. If they don't like it I won't pay. Case closed.
Re: OH, THE HUMANITY!!!
Here you go Dave, ths should give you some ideas...
WikiPedia InBev Holdings
Better yet, plan on brewing four or five corneys full of good homebrew as a 'wedding present' so the venue can't refuse its entry... (complete with picnic taps and CO2 one shot dspensers!)

Shame on you Beerlabelman...This has everything to do with religion. Now we may not believe in the same things all the time but "I guarantee you we all believe in one thing and that is that I believe I will have another homebrew, thank you very much" ...said with tongue in cheek!!!Beerlabelman wrote:Religion has nothing to do with this issue.
