Kealia's Lager Miser and Beer-lords Faux RyePL
Prolly not fair to do 2 at a time but what can I say? I'm a rebel!
Left the gym thinking about beer. Grabbed an Ace of Spades (I really like this beer) whilst making a new bucket of Star San, then when done, grabbed a not even 2 week old bottle of my Faux RyePL. The keg is still waiting for Ace to kick for room in the kegerator (that is mission 1 this weekend) but I was curious. Pilsner malt, rye, both malt and flaked and german ale yeast at about 60 degrees.
My first thought was, not so great but then I realized how different it was and that what I was tasting was rye. The more I tasted, the more I liked and I can't wait to see what's its like after it's in the keg for a week. Of course, it's got some bitterness, not even aroma for me (yet) but ends a tad dry which I think is perfect for this beer. More on this one in the near future.
Then I hit Ron's Lager Miser. First thing, cool label.
This one had a nice sound when uncapped (without a fancy-smancy Inkleg bottle opener). I was a bit aggressive on the pour but it's my third beer.
First impression....WOW!. Second impression... WOW! And the wife's seal of approval too.
Poured crystal clear. Not a ton of aroma but definitely a lager. It has some nice bitterness up front then some slight sweetness in the middle and finishes with a 'gotta have some more' at the end.
Ron, this is a great spring-summer beer and should be a regular for you. You nailed this one.

Thanks Paul! I really do take that as a compliment and am glad you liked it. I think my keg hop should have settled in by now so hopefully in the next few days I'll try the trub bottle versus a keg pour and compare the two. I was hoping for a bit more aroma than what it has but I was also hoping this experiment was just drinkable.

You guys really know how to humble a guy. I'm really flattered that you liked this - at this point I don't even care if Jeff likes it 'cuz I got two out of three! Winner winner chicken dinner!
All kidding aside, with the great beers that you guys turn out and the great commercial beers that you also drink to call anything "nailed" or "well done" is considered high praise in my book.

I agree with the other two. You nailed this!
It poured absurdly clear with a nice rocky head. The aroma, oh wait there's not much, but then again it is a Lager. It was a steady stream of crisp malt from start to finish, with the right amount of hops to keep it clean.
Great job Ron, keep it up. I'd go mow the lawn, but is wouldn't be around to quench my thirst afterwards, as I've already enjoyed it.

2nd taste of my Faux RyePL and I'm really, really enjoying this one. Great lacing, mild, semi spicy aroma and a clean taste that slowly brings up just the right amount of hop bitterness before it ends with a clean finish. I could get use to using Pilsner malt more in the future.

One of the best parts of the Lager Miser was the bottle. I retire most of my bombers (at least the ones that are awesome like Enjoy By and Ghost in the Machine) and put them on the shelf. Kind of like a trophy room. I added the Lager Miser to the lot. That's a great label my friend.

I'm sipping on my bottle of Kealia's Lager Miser. It's fooking awesome. I am a fan of Simcoe and Amarillo. I wish I had a case of this stuff. Guess I gotta make it.
Kealia, is this the beer you experimented with MoreBeer pils extract in, or was it AG? I don't remember.

That's way cool. I wish I could claim that I created that guy, but as you likely know it's "Snow Miser" from the "Year Without a Santa Claus" kids movie (that I watch every year). Thanks, that's easily makeable by me, I'd probably just skip the 60 minute addition and add a bit more hops for the others to shave off some time. Even more finishing hops won't hurt it I am a fan of MoreBeer pils extract as you know. Zoinks! I just pulled another pint from the keg and the keg-hops finally kicked in. I really like this even more now.
The only 'complaint' is that the crispness from it being a lager is a bit covered up by the resiny hop oils but that's a minor complaint.
If that's the worst thing I can say, life is good.
